Launch of the SSX Academy Training Program

Posted in IRMatters

In today’s IRMatters post the Sydney Stock Exchange Limited (SSX)’s Antony Tolfts outlines the new SSX Academy short course training program designed to support people to take their first steps in financial markets.

SSX Academy

The SSX is a Tier One licensed stock exchange in Australia that provides a fresh, flexible alternative for companies seeking opportunities for growth only listings can bring.

The SSX is passionate about furthering financial market education and continues to be an advocate for lifelong learning for every member of staff. As a group, our teams continuously develop their thinking through formal education and professional memberships.

As a result of COVID-19 restrictions, many of the established educational development opportunities have been postponed or cancelled, creating a real need for more distance learning opportunities. The exchange decided to establish the SSX Training Academy, to pass on our wide and deep knowledge of financial markets through Financial Market literacy and educational courses.

The courses target those who want to boost their market skills, add to their Certified Professional Development (CPD Hours), satisfy their curiosity about the financial markets, and learn new, useful skills.

The great value SSX short courses are a great option for those who are considering longer courses but want to get a better understanding of the Financial Markets first.

What is available

The 20 SSX Short Courses are designed be interesting and to support students who are considering taking their first step into financial markets and can be completed from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. The subjects have been specifically designed to be informative with each course focused on a core competency, but with a wide range of topics to offer.

The courses are delivered in a personalised, group video conference (webinar) to create a virtual classroom setting and allow students to interact virtually, as they would in a regular classroom.

The SSX Academy offers 20 courses across the five streams of study:

1. Financial Markets (Financial Market concepts and products)

2. Compliance & Regulatory Insights (AML / KYC / Regulatory Overview)

3. New Tech (Fintech / Blockchain / Cryptocurrency / Artificial Intelligence)

4. Corporations Act (Directors Responsibilities / Corporations Act, AFSL Responsible Manager Overview)

5. Risk Management

Each course is delivered by an SSX approved financial market specialist with a deep understanding of the subject matter. Importantly the course leader will be able to articulate how the coursework should be applied in a real work setting.

Subject to enrolment, all 20 SSX Academy courses are held weekly during noon and 2 pm (Sydney time) Monday to Friday.  After enrolling students are sent a secure log in detail for the next available session.

A certificate of completion is awarded upon completion and would be a great inclusion in your resume and add to your professional learning.

A course-based examination is available as an option for those students who wish to achieve certification. The examination can be booked before or after the course has been completed

For market professionals each subject equates to 1.5 CPD points towards your annual total.
